We had the most exciting task of reimagining big old Hungarian brands. I choose Orion, which was an electronic engineering company established in 1913. Got internationally known for radios, that had been sold all over the world.

Credit goes to my consulting teacher - Darázs Bódog.

Known designer from that era Botlik József created the extraordinary symbol and lettering for the company. He was known for art deco style, and used the modern man, big city lights, jazz, and technological advancements as a source of inspiration. To this he added mythical symbolism of ancient god like giants and nice contrasting colours to create the firs brand language of a Hungarian company ever existed.

The idea was to keep the theme of modern mans visions of the 21. century technological advancements, and give it an updated look.

I used 3 dimensional objects to create an outer space like vibe for the brand identity and kept the base of the symbol and only modernised the shapes and forms of it.

Goals

My first and main idea was to follow the given concept, I went with a more nonfigurative direction with my pattern and used engineer plans and space like forms and shapes as a base. The god like value I only kept in the logo the tree headed Janus combined with Hungarian folk tales.
